“ Snow White revived by Preljocaj is a dazzling jewel, an enchanted spectacle that celebrates the reconciliation between contemporary creation and narration, aesthetics and, above all, meaning.”-Paul Hilarion, Classica répertoire

To tell a well-known fairy tale with dance and endow it with a new life is never an easy task, but French choreographer Angelin Preljocaj just loves this challenge. This reinvention of Snow White is unconventionally enchanting and not too abstract. To present a story through dance, Preljocaj brilliantly choose to combine dancers' visual narrative with Mahler's symphonies, creating a cinematic expression with romantic and pastoral atmosphere. In this contemporary ballet, you will see more focus on the real agenda in the story such as desire, the unforgiving power of time, the strong impact of jealousy.

Don’t forget to admire the costumes designed by legendary designer Jean Paul Gaultier and the set designed by Thierry Leproust, both are well balanced and powerfully strengthen the narrative. Premiered on September 25, 2008 at Biennale de la danse de Lyon, France, Snow White received very positive reviews as well as the Globe de Cristal prize.
