“TAN’s contribution is to make everything about the concert experience, even holding a program on your lap, part of the heightened sensations.-Los Angeles Times
The original score for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon attracted the world’s attention on Tan Dun, but his creative talent is never limited to film scores. The inspiration of his works came from different stages of his life, from his home in rural Hunan, China to the skyscrapers in New York City. With such diversity, the sound of his music flows from the ancient past to the modern world, like a river connecting distant realms. While multimedia technologies are employed in his concert performances, his music features oriental zen spirit and stimulates imagination beyond the arena.
The Oscar-winning score of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon is a world famous work and made the film even more touching. Tan Dun created the music that fits the atmosphere of traditional Chinese martial arts world as well as a story of love and forgiveness. Come and hear this exciting, timeless piece performed by an enhanced orchestra of both Chinese and western instruments. It is by no means a mere replay of classics but a recreation of transforming strength.
