Nan Wang is a Puyuma tribe in Taiwan, a tribe of rich musical heritage and located in Taitung County. The mountain Atolan is regarded the sacred mountain of the tribe. And the tribe faces the Pacific Ocean to which they hold the sea celebration ritual. The unique geographical environment resulted in a rich culture which gave the musicians endless inspiration. Over the years there are many famous musicians from the tribe, from LU Shen-pao in the Japanese occupation period to Paudul, Gulilai Amit (CHANG Hui-mei).

On the Road is coordinated by the founder of Taiwan Color Music (TCM), CHANG 43 and integrates the aboriginal singers with orchestra, and the film. The National Concert Hall will be divided into three parts, sky, earth and people. The sky will display projection of story films about the myth and legends. The earth will be the place where the conductor and the orchestra perform. And people, who are the singers, will be between the audience and the orchestra. On February 28th, after the performance indoors is concluded, the audiences are then invited to join the traditional celebration ritual outdoors.

On the Road not only presents the beautiful music from the mountains and the ocean but also extends the possibilities of artistic achievement. The entire production progress behind the scenes is documented in detail and will be shown to the audience.

About Taiwan Color Music

TCM was founded in the fall of 1998 with the office located in ShihLin, Taipei. The founder CHANG 43 was 30 years old then, and he came from Yunlin County.

Musicians with TCM are mostly independent creative artists with pure style and full of ideal, energy. They have rich stories of life and their own character as well as vision. Over the years they have won various awards in different categories and participated in many music festivals.
